German Geothermal Congress 2021 announces partner countries Austria and Switzerland

(PRESS RELEASE, Berlin, 9th of June 2021) Dr. Erwin Knapek, President of the German Geothermal Association, on the partnership: “In order to strengthen the country community of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we recently extended the editorial responsibilities of our magazine Geothermal Energy to the geothermal associations of Switzerland and Austria. Consequently, it was also obvious for us to show this newly strengthened cooperation at this year’s Geothermal Congress.” As the congress is planned again on location in the City of Essen this year, joint and independent workshops of the partner countries are also to be held there.

“We are looking forward to the first-time cooperation of the geothermal associations in the DACH region for the Geothermal Congress and are convinced that increased joint communication in the German-speaking region in the future will improve the visibility and relevance of geothermal energy to decision-makers,” said Dr. Peter Seifert, chairman of the Geothermal Association of Austria.

The president of Geothermie-Schweiz, Nathalie Andenmatten Berthoud, also knows the value of international cooperation: “It makes it possible to benefit from each other’s expertise, improve common practices, and generally make better use of the potential of geothermal energy in the countries. With this in mind, Geothermal Switzerland has already entered into a partnership with the French association in 2019. I am very pleased that we are now intensifying this exchange in the German-speaking region as well.”

The call for papers is currently running until 30th of June and invites interested parties to submit recent scientific results.

The congress will take place from November 30 to December 2, 2021 at the Haus der Technik in the City of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia.
