IGA at the Stakeholder Meeting of the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA)

On 15-16 June IRENA organized a stakeholder meeting on the GGA in Nairobi.

On 15 June 2015 the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held a Multi Stakeholders Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya on the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA). The meeting was officially opened by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya and the Director General of IRENA. About 40 participants from IRENA member countries, geothermal donor organisations, associations and private sector attended the meeting.Sessions topics included challenges and opportunities of geothermal, country updates, enabling geothermal investments and a discussion on the GGA. Outcomes of the meeting include a revision and an improvement of the GGA concept and the definition of more concrete actions and workplans until the COP21 in Paris. On 16 June all participants went to Olkaria, to the oldest and most efficient geothermal power plant in Kenya.
