IGA Board in Reykjavik, Iceland

An entire week of geothermal energy activities in Iceland.

The IGA Board meeting No 63 takes place in Reykjavik, Iceland on 29-30 April 2016. Some of our Board members already attended & contributed to the WB ESMAP Global Geothermal Development Plan: Roundtable 3 in Reykjavik from 25-26 April. Juliet Newson presented the keynote on 'Geothermal Markets, Financing and Technology Trends'. The Roundtable provides a platform for donors, multilateral financing institutions, government officials, industry experts and practitioners. The meeting analyses progress and exchanges knowledge on different aspects of geothermal projects: from the role of governments to specific technical industry issues. Roundtable No 3 takes a closer look on the role of governments in project development and financing and also analyses the value of geothermal resources and how to manage geothermal gases. Four IGA Board members attended the Roundtable.

Nearly 600 participants are expected to attend the Iceland Geothermal Conference which takes place on 26 – 29 April. The IGA has a booth and offers international coffee & lunch break talks. Check out the agenda in the attached PDF. On Thursday, 28 April the IGA Geothermal Expert Pool is officially launched.

Discussion topics at the IGA Board meeting No 63 include the upcoming IGA Board elections, bylaws amendments, the continuation of the IGA strategy discussion and a visit to the Harpa Conference Centre which will be the venue for the World Geothermal Congress in 2020.
