Geothermal Production Technology

18 March 2020 - 19 March 2020

Geothermal is a natural phenomenon and every resource is unique in its characteristics and capacity. Typically, the project (for example direct-use, power plant etc) utilizing the geothermal resource, is custom-engineered to match the resource capacity, the well operating parameters for sustainable supply of geothermal fluids, and its geochemical characteristics. Often referred to as the resource design criteria.

During this 2-day course the participants will gain an understanding of developing these resource design criteria for (pumped) production and injection wells by designing well tests, analyzing and interpretation of well test data.

Furthermore, the course covers monitoring and management of well and resource performance.

A brief outline of the Course:

Day 1 – Geothermal Production and Injection Well:

  • Well testing and downhole surveys
  • Well productivity, deliverability, injection capacity and injection WHP
  • Well stimulation
  • Pumped well
  • Geochemical characteristics and constraints

Day 2 – Geothermal Well Field:

  • Well operating parameters
  • Production and injection strategy
  • Design criteria and considerations
  • Mitigation of scale, corrosion, emission of gases
  • Monitoring and management of resource performance

This course focusses on hands-on industry applied knowledge and lessons learned. The target audience are geothermal scientist and engineers.

The course shall be given by Manon Stöver. She has a background in petroleum engineering but switched to the geothermal power industry early in her career. She is a geothermal professional and enthusiast with a convincing track record in the worldwide geothermal power industry.

This Course is fully booked.
