DGG / SEG Joint Geothermal Workshop: Geophysical exploration from fossil to geothermal reservoirs
Organized by SEG and the DGG Working Group Geothermal Energy
Technical Committee:
Emmanuel Gaucher, Sebastian Held, Jennifer Livermore, Whitney Trainor-Guitton
Workshop objectives:
- to foster networks between both professional societie
- to provide a venue for experts, practitioners, early-career scientists and students to exchange idea
- to share progress, lessons-learned and on-going research in geophysics for optimal harnessing of
geothermal energy - to share experience between oil, gas and geothermal exploration and applications
Main workshop topics:
- Resource Assessment, Characterization and Imaging
o Reservoir modeling: thermal, hydraulic, geomechanical modeling
o Reservoir imaging: active seismic, MT, gravity, and other exploration methods
o Advanced methodologies: joint inversions, geostatistics, uncertainty quantification - Reservoir Development, Stimulation, and Monitoring
o Geophysical monitoring techniques: passive seismic, time-lapse monitoring, 4D monitoring
o Downhole measurements and logging - Geophysical Case Studies
o Hydrothermal systems
o Enhanced Geothermal System
o Geothermal Storage
