IFC-IGA Launch Event Best Practice Guide
On 27 March 2013 the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) together with the International Geothermal Association (IGA) launched the Best Practice Guide GEOTHERMAL EXPLORATION BEST PRACTICES: A GUIDE TO RESOURCE DATA COLLECTION, ANALYSIS, AND PRESENTATION FOR GEOTHERMAL PROJECTS in Istanbul, Turkey.
1st Workshop on the Geothermal Energy Initiative in Latin America
At the beginning of 2013 the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) together with the Latin America Energy Organization (OLADE) and the International Geothermal Association (IGA) decided to collaborate to promote geothermal energy in Latin America.

IGA Board meeting held in Nairobi prior to the Regional African Conference
The IGA Board of Directors recently met on 19 and 20 Nov. 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya. Shortly afterwards the regional geothermal conference ARGeo-C4 was held.
Call for applications for IGA funds for educational events
IGA members who are considering holding short training courses in any aspect of geothermal energy can apply to the IGA for financial assistance to run the proposed courses.

Establishment of the IGA East African Regional Branch
During the IGA Board of Directors meeting on 18-19 November 2011, the Board approved the formation of the IGA East African Regional Branch. You may read the background paper for the establishment of the IGA East African Regional Branch. The Board nominated Meseret as Chairwoman of the Branch.
Regional geothermal power plant maps produced
In December 2011 the IGA Secretariat produced three regional geothermal power plant maps (Central America, New Zealand, Indonesia/ Philippines) in cooperation with the International Geothermal Centre, Bochum.

In early summer 2011 three energy strategies were launched. The policy brief provides an overview.
