2010 World Geothermal Congress Bali
The
2010 World Geothermal Congress (WGC) is now just over six months away. This
unique event brings the international geothermal community
together once every 5 years to share scientific and
technical information, new technology and industry trends,
success stories and market opportunities for future
developments. The 2010 WGC is being hosted by the Indonesian
Geothermal Association (INAGA) and will convene on the 25th
to 30th of April 2010 in beautiful Bali with its
unparalleled geothermal resources, rich cultural heritage,
and lush vegetation and not to be over looked fabulous
beaches.
Our Indonesians hosts are hard at work making arrangements
to provide the expected 2000+ participants with the
opportunity to visit numerous geothermal fields and cultural
sites; organizing a trade show with technical exhibits
highlighting the products and services of commercial
companies involved in geothermal development; reserving
hotels and planning various cultural and social events. But
it is the International Geothermal Association (IGA) that is
responsible for assuring that the event provides the best
possible technical program and is available to the widest
possible audience through providing Fellowship for
participants.
Over 1000 papers have already been submitted for oral and
poster presentation and 5 technical short courses are
planned.
Now that many of the aspects of the technical program are
well underway, a major role for the IGA is to solicit funds
to support the Technical Program and to provide as many
fellowships for geothermalists from developing countries as
possible. Recipients of fellowships must have submitted a
technical paper for oral or poster presentation which has
been accepted by the technical committee, have solicited
funds from their own organization and are, in the opinion of
the fellowship committee, worthy of support.
