Welcome to our page with data for Vanuatu

Twelve islands of the Vanuatu archipelago have thermal springs. Most of them are on the island of Efate, on which the capital, Port Vila, is located. Two of the recently assessed thermal areas on Efate have temperatures higher than required for electricity generation. Currently, imported diesel is used to generate power for Port Vila, resulting in a high cost to the consumer.

Sufficient surface investigations on the two identified thermal areas on Efate have been undertaken. A report by GENZL/KRTA in 1991 recommended two production-size wells of 1,500 to 1,800 meters in depth at a total estimated cost of US$3.5-4.0 million.
