Welcome to our page with data for Panama
Panama has no geothermal generation at present - one of the reasons, sector officials claim, why they cannot compete with Costa Rica on production prices, and have some of the highest consumer prices in the region. "There have been studies - there is perhaps a potential 100 MW,"claimed one official. The country's main problem is its size, meaning that centres of natural resource generation, whether hydroelectric or geothermal, are located at great distances from the centres of demand. Consumer prices reflect high transportation costs.
